Dr. Whitman was born and raised in Texas, received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1978, completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of California School of Medicine in San Diego.

He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Dr. Whitman has been in practice in the Houston area for 24 years and has just recently joined the Texas Gulf Coast Medical Group.

Dr. Whitman practices the full range of clinical Gastroenterology including endoscopic procedures such as:

• colonoscopy screening for colon cancer
• endoscopy evaluation for heartburn and ulcer disease
• treatment of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease
• evaluation and treatment of pancreatic
• liver disease and Hepatitis C
