Dr. Allassia Burns earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in her hometown of Houston, Texas. She completed her residency at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. She then went on to practice general internal medicine at Austin Diagnostic Clinic in Austin, Texas.

Dr. Burns’ interest in the management of diabetes resulted in her pursuing an endocrinology fellowship. She completed her first year at Tulane Medical School but, due to Hurricane Katrina, she completed her second year at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.  r. Burns is a member of the American Academy of Clinical Endocrinologists, the American Diabetes Association, and the Texas Medical Association.

Dr. Burns’ special interests are in the management of diabetes and the prevention of complications associated with diabetes. In her spare time, Dr. Burns enjoys writing, reading and drawing.
