Janice's educational career, remarkable as well, spans almost 30 years. She began her career in medicine as a medical assistant. Her insatiable desire to know and understand more about medicine and most particularly how she could optimize patient care delivery, prompted her to become a licensed vocational nurse and then to obtain her diploma as a registered nurse. She also was a certified x-ray technician; also in 2003 she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston with her Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing! True to form, Janice continues to pursue a Master's Degree in Nursing. In addition to her experience at Texas Gulf Coast Medical Group, Janice was the Assistant Head Nurse at The Methodist Hospital's Emergency Department where she managed 40 employees and has also been the manager for urgent care centers for a major Houston hospital system. She holds a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) designation in addition to her BSN. Her experience also includes critical care, utilization review and medico legal review, accounting and medical records The depth and breadth of Janice's hands-on experience in both clinical and operational processes is valuable to our organization and essential to the operation of our medical practice. She is a valued resource for physicians, staff and patients. Her indomitable spirit and optimism are an inspiration to all. Her experience combined with exceptional clinical skills gives her unique insight into patient care priorities. Without exception, any physician or employee at Texas Gulf Coast Medical Group would like to have Janice as “their nurse.” Janice says her management goals are patient satisfaction and quality health care. Janice is the mother of five boys –three grown and two at home -- and the guardian angel of many of her neighbors, patients and friends. She and her husband, Brian, reside in Dickinson where she is active with her church and the boys' school activities. After five boys, Janice finally got her girl when granddaughter, Michelle, was born. She also has four grandsons, and on March 7th received the news that she had another granddaughter! In her spare time, Janice enjoys crocheting, cooking, ceramics, antiquing, gardening and not long ago raised and showed champion Great Danes |
