Texas Gulf Coast Medical Group - Clear Lake, Texas

Michael J. Lyons, D.O., President and CEO of Texas Gulf Coast Medical Group (TGCMG) in Webster, Texas has volunteered to serve as the Family Physician of the Day for the Texas Legislature on Tuesday, March 5. While at the Capitol, Dr. Lyons will be available to care and treat the legislators and their staff members.

Family physicians participating in the Physician of the Day program volunteer their time to staff the Capitol Health Services Clinic. The Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP) coordinates and directs the Physician of the Day program. Dr. Lyons will be introduced in both the Senate and House of Representatives and his service will be part of the official legislative record.

Dr. Lyons joined TGCMG in 1995 and was named President of TGCMG in 2009. He received his medical degree in 1992 from the UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Lyons completed his family practice residency at UTMB in Galveston and received the UTMB School of Medicine Teacher of Distinction Award in 2011.

Dr. Lyons is board certified in family medicine and will serve as the CEO of Bay Area Regional Medical Center, a new hospital to open in the Clear Lake Area in December 2013.
